So the privilege of working at the open house for 2 weeks ended last
Saturday, but boy was it fun and exhausting. I don't know why or how,
but just standing motionless for over 2 hours has a way of draining
your body more than when you are moving around.
We had 2 investigators come to the open house this last week and they
both seemed to enjoy it. It was awesome watching them in the celestial
room feel the spirit way strongly. One of our investigators told us
about the night and day difference she noticed when she entered and
exited the room. It's the spirit! Now we just need to help those
investigators recognize that was the spirit and boom!
This week we saw lots of tender mercies from the Lord. We had a decent
amount of time housing (knocking doors) and I just kept a prayer in my
heart to help us find someone to listen and someone that just gives
our message a chance. Well, sure enough we found 2 awesome people that
really listened and seemed to want to meet again. I have big hopes for
them for sure.
We have some people progressing, but it is very slow and no one is
willing to come to church. This week we made a goal to try and get
people to church trying every way possible. Church is such a good
blessing for so many reasons: they can meet members, need to go to
church to get baptized in the end, can learn more about Jesus Christ
at church than from 2 broken down Japanese speaking Americans, can
take the sacrament, etc...
The blessings are endless, and I feel if investigators start coming to
church, they will progress the most. Might seem obvious to some of
those reading this, but it's something that's way hard here in Japan
and I'm sick of that excuse. I want to change the odds and just bring
20 investigators to church.
Anyway, this email is probably way Boring but basically I just worked
at the open house a bunch this week. It's awesome to see old members
and less actives again that's for sure.
Ok have a good week everyone

Temple week
July 19, 2016
Hello everyone! So we worked the temple on Monday, so today is my P day.
Honestly not a whole ton to report on other than the temple.
We work there about 4 times a week and we do things like: tour guides,
ushers, doorkeepers, etc...
Lots of fun and the spirit is way strong there for sure. We have done
a tour with 2 investigators now, and we have 3 more appointments for
these next couple days, so please pray for us.
This week I've probably had the most awkward encounter in my life. We
were housing and this mom probably in her high 30s, low 40s came out
and talked to us. We were having a good time until she started
complimenting me and my comp. like crazy. First she called me and
ikemen (meaning hot or good looking) and then she called my companion
a "baby face." He got a little sad and she picked up on it really
quick and tried to play things off calling him an "ikemen baby" hahaha
that was definitely a first.
She talked a lot about her family and how she has 2 sons and is really
lonely because she is divorced and the kids are never home. She then
looks me dead in the eye and says "do you want to make a baby?" She
points inside and says "let's go right now!" now usually in these kind
of never-occurring awkward encounters I just kind of laugh, but the
look on her face was this (I'm serious and I'm lonely) look. We both
kind of panicked and couldn't get words out for a while , but
eventually told her no, never no, and then taught a bit about morals
haha.
Anyway, that experience was a first and hopefully a last.
We have just been pounding sushi, going to the temple, building
relationships with members, etc...
Life is good right now and we actually had one of our investigators
come to church this last week. Please pray for him. He's way old and
thinks he's too old to understand. His name is azumaya San. Freaking
love that guy
Kk have a great week everyone.

Temple is awesome!
July 10, 2016
So.... I've been working at the temple basically 3 times a week for
the last little while and it is an awesome experience. However, that
being said nothing to in depth to talk or write about for this week's
email. I'll just talk about one spiritual thing and one of the
funniest things I've seen yet.
Spiritual: we had one of our investigators あずまやさん go on a temple tour
with us this last Friday! It was really a miracle. He's in his 70's
and getting him from his house to the church (5 minutes by walking
maybe even bike) isn't
Hard, but the 1 1/2 hours by subway was a bit of a stretch. We spent a
good amount of time on Thursday talking about the temple and made
plans to go together! We got to go on the tour with him and watch the
spirit work within him. I saw him feel the spirit a lot, and now we
are just working to help him recognize it more.
Funny experience: every Saturday in this area we have ping pong night
from 6-8. I was playing with a less active a bit just kind of of
friendly play, having a good conversation, etc... My comp decides to
become a barrier and lay on my side of the table. The ball kept
hitting him and it seemed like he wanted to lay there without being a
hindrance, so he decide to scoot in right next to the net. Now, these
tables that we use come in 2 parts. You basically just push them
together and put the net on. That being said, there was literally no
support whatsoever for the 190ish pounds he ways. All the sudden the
tables on both ends fly straight up and my companion straight drops to
the ground hard. The face he had when he realized the 2 ends were
rising and he was dropping was literally priceless. Anyway, bad
explanation but it's one of those things you had to be there to get.
Funny to watch me being the only one laughing and all the Japanese
people running to his rescue "are you okay?"
Guess the cultures are pretty different haha
The temple is awesome. I had the chance to go on splits withe one of
my old buddies from when I was a new missionary. We worked at the
celestial room and just opened the doors for people coming in and out.
But, the awesome part about it is that we got to spend lots of time in
the celestial room. I did lots of thinking and a lot of pondering of
the person I want to become before I go home. Awesome experience!
Love you all and hope you're doing well!

The temple open house!
Tuesday, July 5 2016
So because of a beloved friend who will remain nameless ( cough cough
Nathan) (I guess you could call that a shout out) this week I will
actually say my email is short and keep it short. (Shorter)
We all know I write "no time, so I'll keep it short" every week in the
beginning, and it ends up being a 10 page essay 12 point font, single
spaced.
Sooooo.... Big news is about the temple. In Japan right now there are
temples in Fukuoka, Tokyo, and this Sapporo temple is the 3rd, so it's
a pretty big deal.
All of the sisters in this mission have been assigned to work the open
house (from the 8th to the 23rd) every day. Also, based on an
insufficient amount of workers, the Elders who are serving in Sapporo
right now get to go work the open house. I am way freaking blessed
transferring from asahikawa (pretty dang far from Sapporo) to Sapporo
in the one transfer we can work at the open house. It is probably one
of the coolest things I've done thus far in my life. Also, being able
to see some of my old companions and other missionaries has become a
lot more rare lately, so it's way fun to hang out with them again,
I already had the privilege this last week to help out for the people
who did construction and vip members who got to do a temple tour
before the open house even opened. I also had the privilege to go on a
tour after my first shift ended this last Monday. Oh yeah,
that's why I'm emailing today. Today is my P day and we will probably
do something fun idk...
Kk I'll basically be working at the temple for the next 3 weeks, so
I'll try and take pictures and my schedule recently has been kind of
all over the place, so yep.. Alright. Oh shoot! I also hit my year
mark thus far, so like my friend Dallin I want to do my yearly stats.
